The Importance of Bio-Cycling
In the beginning of a newly established aquarium, waste products can quickly build up to toxic levels. Introducing fish, plants, and food to your aquarium begins a natural process called “Biochemical Cycling,” which is exemplified by the nitrogen cycle. The process begins when fish and invertebrates excrete waste, which is added to the ammonia produced from decaying food and organic compounds. The more sources of fish waste, the quicker and greater the ammonia problem. Nature provides many types of bacteria that, in the presence of oxygen, carry out the oxidation of harmful ammonia to nitrites, then to less harmful nitrates, in a process known as nitrification. An aquarium is full of both autotrophic and heterotrophic bacteria that want nothing more than to attach, grow, and form BIOFILMS, where bacteria convert toxic nitrogenous compounds into harmless products that are used by plants and algae for food.
About Activ-Shrimp™ Bio-Activ Live® Shrimp Water™
Activ-Shrimp™ Bio-Activ Live® Shrimp Water™ is a naturally LIVE product, rich in bacteria and essential trace elements commonly found in soil and aquatic environments. The use of this natural live water composition in freshwater aquariums as a method of rapid biochemical cycling both promotes biofilm formation and enhances the nitrogen cycle for rapid nitrification, thus establishing a chemically balanced aquatic environment with biochemical conditions suited to the survival and viability of fish, crustaceans, invertebrates, and other aquatic life. PH & Shrimp
Shrimp pH requirements may vary from species to species. Be sure to research your shrimp to learn about their specific requirements. As this is a natural product, pH testing is recommended upon initial setup, then buffer your aquarium to suit your shrimp’s needs.
NOTE: Activ-Shrimp™ Bio-Activ Live® Shrimp Water™ creates a healthier aquarium from the start. Treated tap water or RO water does not provide the proper chemical requirements provided by 100% Natural Live Fresh Water. Activ-Shrimp™ Bio Activ Live® Shrimp Water™ replaces missing natural live bacteria, trace elements, and critical nutrients.
Directions:
For initial set-up: Remove any contents from aquarium and pre-wash with clean water, then rinse with Activ-Shrimp™ Bio Activ Live® Shrimp Water™ to remove any residual chemicals found in tap water. Decorate your aquarium, then fill with remaining Activ-Shrimp™ Bio Activ Live® Shrimp Water™.
For water change: A weekly water change of 5–10%, depending on your shrimp species, is recommended using Activ-Shrimp™ Bio Activ Live® Shrimp Water™. Be sure to match the Activ-Shrimp™ Bio Activ Live® Shrimp Water™ temperature to the aquarium water temperature.
For evaporation: Simply top off your aquarium using Activ-Shrimp™ Bio Activ Live® Shrimp Water™.
